The Ultimate Birthday Party with a Ring Pop® Piñata

We have had every type of birthday party you can imagine, including at-home celebration parties— except for a Ring Pop birthday party! Who would think that setting up a Ring Pop birthday party would be so much fun?
There are two things that are essential for a successful birthday party: goody bags and a piñata. A birthday party is not complete without these two items.
I love putting the goody bags together and the kids love receiving them. There are always so many fun items in the goody bags. I think it’s safe to say that some people come to my birthday parties just for the goody bags and piñatas!
But this time, the one item that is going to make the kids jump up and down with glee are Ring Pop Lollipops! There will be Ring Pop Lollipops in their goody bags, and in the Ring Pop Piñata. Ring Pop makes every party sweeter!
The piñata was a big hit. Not only is it a piñata, but it is a Ring Pop piñata, which commands attention as you walk into its space and see it shining in all of its glory! However, when it comes to making a Ring Pop piñata, its best friend is masking tape.

Everything you’ll need:

Materials:

2 White foam boards
1 White poster board
1 Yellow poster board or cardboard
4 boxes of 24 ct. Ring Pop Lollipops
Twine or very thin rope
Tissue paper (your choice of colors)
Large empty egg crate
Large masking tape
Empty toilet paper roll

Tools:

Scissors
Glue stick (purple preferred)
Paper cutter (optional)
Hot glue gun (optional)
Hot glue sticks (optional)
Exacto knife
Monster Glue
Ruler

Ring

Step 1: Lay the foam poster board flat.

Step 2: Measure 12 inches on the top and 7 inches on the bottom.

Step 3: Measure 6 inches on the top sides (I write it on the foam cut out as I go so I don’t forget).

Step 4: Using an exacto knife, cut around measurements to make the ring shape.

Step 5: Make a strip of thin cardboard (or white poster paper) folding the sides and cutting the sides to wrap around the top of the piñata and fold around the short sides. For measurements just trace the piñata, adding an inch on both sides so you can fold and cut them.

Step 6: Tape it inside and outside with masking tape.

Step 7: Cut 2 strips for the lower sides, folding the sides and cutting the sides of the strips for stability when you tape them. For measurements, just trace the piñata, adding an inch on both sides so you can fold and cut them.

Step 8: For the bottom (where the candy may fall out), cover with a strip of cardboard or white poster paper and cut and bend the sides for sturdiness.

Step 9: Stick the bottom with masking tape, but don’t over do it as the Ring Pop Lollipops will fall out of the bottom.

Step 10: Cut slices of tissue paper with a paper cutter or scissors. Cut slits on them and start gluing them from the bottom up.

Step 11: Cut a small square flap to use to put candy inside and wrap with masking tape to make it sturdy.

Step 12: Then, continue adding tissue paper.

Step 13: Use a paper clip at the top of the piñata to make a hole to feed the twine inside, and pull through and feed string through it before adding tissue paper. Make a knot for the inside, then pull it through.

Base

Step 1: Use a round laundry basket, or something as big, and trace around it on cardboard or poster paper (twice).

Step 2: Cut around with an exacto knife and add a large egg crate for stability, taping it with masking tape.

Step 3: Add the top and tape it together and then add masking tape around it.

Step 4: Cut more strips of tissue and glue from bottom up.

Step 5: Trim the tissue.

Step 6: Use Monster Glue to fit the ring into the base and let sit and dry for a day.

Ring Holder

Step 1: Get an extra large plate and place it 3/4 of the way on a yellow poster paper.

Step 2: Trace around it and then cut with scissors and repeat to make two pieces.

Step 3: Cut toilet paper rolls and use masking tape to stick them in between the sides to add sturdiness.

Step 4: Put the other piece on top and cover and close completely with masking tape.

Step 5: Cut pieces of tissue and layer them, gluing them starting from the bottom.

Step 6: Center on base and stick with monster glue. Let dry for a day.

Then get ready to party!
